Funding Purpose

Centerville Safe was founded in 2019 by a group of Centerville City Schools parents who wanted to do more for school safety and security. Our mission is to advocate for and collaborate with Centerville City Schools on matters of school safety and security. As a 501(c)(3), Centerville Safe is able to fundraise to support implementation of safety and security best practices within the school district.

We received our 501(c)(3) status in late 2019 and were quickly met with the pandemic. In spite of this, we were able, through a few small fundraisers and private donations, provide the following to Centerville City Schools: new monitors for every building for use with the updated security cameras, a donation toward 3M Safety Film installed at every building for increased protection on windows and doors, and printing of reunification cards explaining to parents and caregivers what to do in case of an emergency at a school building.

Our first priority through the remainder of 2022 is to provide a classroom emergency kit to every classroom in the Centerville schools. We have worked with the school district, law enforcement, and first responders to determine what should be included in each kit. The items, such as a glass breaking device, first aid supplies, and other essentials, included in this backpack would be useful for a variety of emergency situations. The goal is to ensure that every classroom has items accessible to help protect our students in an emergency situation.
